7th July 2005: John & Pat Hume Scholarship awarded

One of 30 John & Pat Hume Scholarships has been granted to me by Maynooth University to pursue a Doctorate in Composition. The project will involve the composition of an Opera on the 1535 rebellion of Thomas FitzGerald, a project which has been on my mind for some time (actually about 18 years!). The libretto has been written for some time by Celia de Fréine. The work will be for a chamber ensemble, with 8 vocal parts, some playing several characters.
